At a commercial facility in Nova Pazova, a new flat roof waterproofing system was installed.

The facility was constructed in several phases. Our company, DVS Izolacija, completed the installation on:

  • Phase II in 2022
  • Phase III in 2023

In both phases, waterproofing was installed along with thermal insulation works. One key difference is that in 2023, the wind load calculation (performed via software by the waterproofing or fastener manufacturer) required stricter fastening patterns due to increasingly severe windstorms and weather conditions.

This wind load calculation determines:

  • The fixing pattern of the membrane
  • The quantity of membrane and fasteners
    Compared to the previous year, more fasteners and tighter membrane overlaps were required.

Roof structure layers:

  1. Trapezoidal metal sheet
  2. Vapor barrier – Sarnavap 500E
  3. Stone wool thermal insulation
  4. PVC waterproofing membrane – Sikaplan 15G

Total waterproofed area:

  • Phase II: 1,900 m²
  • Phase III: 2,515 m²

For this and other flat roofs, emergency overflow outlets must be installed in addition to standard drains. These overflows serve as backups in case of clogging or ice formation in drains during heavy rainfall or winter.
