On the newly constructed facility of the local retail chain “Medius” in Stara Pazova, works were carried out on the thermal insulation and waterproofing of the roof of the supermarket, warehouse, and the canopy structure.

Supermarket and Warehouse

On these roof sections, the thermal insulation layers were installed as follows:

  • Main thermal insulation: mineral wool in two layers, total thickness d = 24 cm (12 + 12 cm)
  • Parapet thermal insulation: mineral wool d = 5 cm
  • Fillet insulation on level transitions: mineral wool d = 10 cm

Before installing the thermal insulation, a vapor barrier Sarnavap 500E was laid loose on the corrugated steel deck, with overlaps.
After that, the PVC waterproofing membrane Sikaplan G-15 was installed, mechanically fastened using telescope fasteners HTK + TKR manufactured by Ejot (Germany), and hot-air welded along the overlaps, all in accordance with the wind uplift calculation (WIND LOAD) provided by the membrane and/or fastener manufacturer. The waterproofing membrane was anchored along the parapet edge and extended to account for the thickness of the façade thermal insulation.

Canopy

On the canopy, a vapor barrier Sarnavap 1000E was first installed on the reinforced concrete slab.
To achieve the required slope towards the roof drains, tapered thermal insulation made of EPS A120 polystyrene was installed, with thickness varying from 2 cm to 22 cm (2% slope).
The tapered insulation was custom-designed and manufactured by DVS Izolacija, from the technical preparation phase to the on-site installation by our waterproofing team.

PVC edge trims / L-profiles were installed along the canopy perimeter for finishing the Sikaplan G-15 PVC membrane, which was mechanically fixed and hot-air welded at the overlaps and along the trims.
Before placing the membrane, a geotextile protective layer 300 g/m² was laid over the EPS insulation.

Horizontal roof drains and overflow outlets were also installed on this structure, while advertisement supports were waterproofed using liquid-applied membrane Sikalastic 641.

The total waterproofed area amounts to approx. P = 755 m².
