On the roof of the building, thermal insulation “Sikatherm PIR” and waterproofing membrane “Sikaplan 18G”, which is UV resistant and has a thickness of d=1.8 mm, were installed.
On the roof of the production plant, the roof was repaired for reasons of preventing leakage, because old finish covering was a trapezoidal sheet. In order to be able to place waterproofing membrane on the roof, it was necessary to lay a flat layer of some material, in order to level and bridge the ribs of the trapezoidal sheet. Before the work starts, flat roofing anchors are selected and the “Pull out” test is performed – checking the quality of the substructure, if there is a need for it, in order to adopt the final detail of the roof layers.
The project task was to install sufficiently solid thermal insulation with the appropriate mechanical hardness as a leveling layer. Due to its excellent hardness and low compressibility, even for a smaller thickness of 4-5 cm, thermal insulation “Sikatherm PIR” was used as a leveling layer, and at the same time, the thermal insulation layer on the roof was increased and lower heat losses/better energy efficiency were achieved.
Waterproofing membrane is fastened at the ends of the strips with telescopic fastening elements HTK+TKR for the roof trapezoidal sheet, and then it is welded with hot air on the overlaps. Installation of the fasteners is performed according to the “Windload” uplift calculation from the waterproofing or fastener manufacturer. The calculation defines the widths: corner, perimeter, internal-central zones of the roof, on the basis of which the waterproofing membrane is cut into strips of the required widths and assembly is carried out.
The approximate total waterproofed surface of the roof is P=5.500 m2.
