The investor contacted us regarding leakage problems around the roof lantern at the Medius Supermarket in Nova Pazova.

A site inspection of the building and roof with the lantern was carried out.

During inspections of roofs scheduled for waterproofing, it is necessary to:

  • analyze potential causes of leakage,
  • identify the details that need to be resolved,
  • adopt the optimal solution,
  • solve the problem with minimum costs.

The inspection showed that the façade Al-bond detail could be a potential source of water ingress, as well as the flashing of the lantern itself.

The adopted solution included the following activities:

  1. dismantling the lantern flashings,
  2. filling the gaps with thermal insulation,
  3. waterproofing the lantern-to-roof joint,
  4. dismantling the façade Al-bond (ventilated façade),
  5. thermal insulation of the wall-to-roof joint,
  6. waterproofing of the wall-to-roof joint,
  7. waterproofing the lantern with liquid membrane Sikalastic 641.

The start of works had to be synchronized with the contractors dismantling the ventilated façade. Even more importantly, the works had to be carried out within a short rain-free period.

Waterproofing works on existing roofs often require constant monitoring of weather forecasts and comparison of different sources (news, online portals, apps, etc.). Planning in the waterproofing sector must always be aligned with current weather conditions.

Thanks to careful planning and close monitoring of weather forecasts, this project was successfully completed in a very short time.

  1. PVC waterproofing membrane Sikaplan 15G, approx. L = 35 m,
  2. PVC detailing membrane Sikaplan 18D, approx. N = 30 pcs,
  3. PVC edge profiles, approx. L = 75 m,
  4. Liquid membrane Sikalastic 641, approx. L = 50 m.

In the gallery you can see the welding of waterproofing on PVC profiles following the corrugation of the roof panel. Welding irregular shapes with a hot-air gun requires patience, precision, and perseverance from the waterproofers.
