Part of the roof was renovated on this mixed-use residential-commercial building in Belgrade. Another section of the roof had already been renovated in 2021. (More about that project here).

Renovation was done using synthetic PVC waterproofing membrane Bauder ‘Thermofol M15’ applied to the roof surface, corners, and parapets.

Before waterproofing, the surface was prepared – cleaned of debris, loose concrete parts, and rubble. The old lightning protection system (mounts and flat conductor) was removed.

Then 4/1 PVC strips were installed on the corners (penetrations, skylights, chimneys…) and at the joints with the non-renovated parts. A PVC drip edge was mounted on the parapet edge.

A protective layer of 500g/m² geotextile was laid over the concrete base.

The final layer was the Bauder ‘Thermofol M15’ PVC membrane, 1.5mm thick, UV resistant, fixed with washers and screws into the concrete, welded to the PVC strips/drip edges and at overlaps, all according to the manufacturer’s fixing calculation.

Total installed waterproofing surface: 360 m².

After waterproofing, new lightning protection mounts and aluminum wire from ‘Hermi Invisible Lightning Protection’ were installed. The newly installed system, approx. 70 m in length, was connected to the existing lines on adjacent roof sections.
