The roof of the ‘DDOR’ Novi Sad headquarters was successfully renovated, addressing the existing aluminum trapezoidal sheet roofing.
Following detailed analysis, technical preparation, and ‘Pull Out‘ testing on-site, data was obtained to calculate the layout of fasteners for the waterproofing membrane and the positioning of the steel strip ‘substructure’ on the existing aluminum trapezoidal sheet.
The work began with the installation of steel strips, riveted to the roof sheet, followed by the application of a vapor barrier, PIR thermal insulation, and finally the waterproofing membrane ‘Sikaplan 15G‘, which was fastened to the steel strips and welded at the overlaps using hot air.
- PIR Thermal Insulation:
- Serves multiple functions: reinforces the roof sheet, evenly distributes loads on the trapezoidal sheet, and provides thermal insulation.
- PIR has excellent fire resistance, low weight, high hardness, and durability under point loads, making it ideal for this type of renovation.
- In contrast, rock wool has significant disadvantages, such as high weight, compressibility, and deformation under point loads.
The project applied years of expertise in technical preparation, logistics, detailed planning, and on-site execution. The experienced waterproofing team successfully addressed all challenges presented by this complex project.
All details were completed in accordance with industry standards, waterproofing manufacturer recommendations, and lessons learned from previous roof renovation projects.
Steel supports, ventilation outlets, and other irregular shapes were sealed using polyurethane liquid membrane ‘Sikalastic 641‘, where PVC membrane application was challenging.
The total waterproofed area is approximately P = 1,650 m².
